How to book the Green Apartment.....

There two ways to book the Green Apartment: First, you can visit our page on AirBnB from where you can reserve the apartment or alternatively you can contact us directly, pay a deposit via Paypal and we will book you in. The latter option is cheaper for you as you will not have to pay AirBnB's charges.

The apartment sleeps 4 - there's a double in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. For those with children, there is the option of a bunk bed.

The Green Apartment is centrally-located - a short walk from all the amenities and sights

Interior of the Apartment

The kitchen is fully-equipped with a fridge, gas hob (2), kettle, dishwasher, pots and pans, cutlery, electric portable grill/oven, crockery and everything else you might need. Under the sink you will find two recycling bags.

Please note that:

The tap water in Eger is not the best quality so we have provided a water filter jug and would advise guests to drink mineral water whenever possible. The water is, of course, fine for showering, brushing teeth etc.

We provide free of charge: still mineral water, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, honey and salt

Sitting/Dining Room

There is a sofa bed in the living room which can comfortably sleep 2 people, if you wish to use the sofa bed, then you can contact us prior to arrival and we will make it up for you.

The sitting room has a TV with a built in DVD player. There is a selection of English language DVDs but unfortunately we don’t have any English-language channels at the moment, but we’re working on it. There are all the usual Hungarian channels.

In the bookcase there are a selection of books about Hungary and Eger in English, feel free to read them but please do not take them with you.

There is one bedroom which contains a double bed and a bunk bed.

In the bedroom there is a built in wardrobe in which you can hang your clothes, there is also a chest of drawers in the living room which you can use.

There is a shower with very straightforward controls, as well as a hand basin. We have provided shower gel, soap and towels for you to use while here. There is also a washing machine, instructions for which are on the top.

There is currently no air-conditioning in the apartment but we plan to buy a portable unit in the near future. However, the apartment is in a relatively old building with thick walls so does not get excessively hot during the summer months – it is usually enough to leave the windows open during the day.

If there is an unusually cold spell or you feel like a bit of warmth, then feel free to ask us to turn on the heating but please don’t attempt to do this on your own as it is a bit of an art to get the convector heaters working and it would be far easier (and quicker) if we were to do it. Just give us a call and we’ll be more than happy to pop over and help you out.

Car Parking

The Green Apartment is located in a beautiful 19th century building in the centre of Eger. There is a secure and enclosed courtyard in which you can park your car. Please respect the apartment owners and be sure to leave them enough space for their cars.

Arriving by public transport

If you are arriving by public transport, then please inform us and we can meet you at the bus/train station. Usually we would walk with you to the apartment and show you a bit of Eger and some of what it has to offer. However, if you have a lot of luggage, then we will probably need to get a taxi.

If you would like more information about getting to Eger with public transport, take a look at our pages on Getting from Budapest to Eger, Budapest-Eger by Coach, Budapest to Eger by Train.

Food Shopping

There is a 24-hour convenience store right across the street from the apartment. It stocks the bare basics like bread, milk, cheese etc.

The Eger open air market is a 5 minute walk from the apartment, it opens very early in the morning and is great for fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, milk products, in fact everything.

Opposite the market is a small supermarket (‘Hossű’) which stocks everything the market doesn’t.

Eger hasn’t escaped the inexorable rise of the hypermarkets; we have both a Tesco and Lidl at the north end of the city and there will be an Aldi opening next to the train station in the coming months.

To reach these you can either walk (about 25 minutes) or take a local bus (350 huf, the bus leaves from the bus stop on the other side of the road from the apartment – about a 3 minute walk - see accompanying map) marked ‘Tesco Aruház’. Just stay on the bus until the end of the line.
