The Kulacs Csarda/Kulacs Inn is one of Eger's best restaurants in which to get traditional Hungarian fare.
Located in Szépasszony Völgy/Valley of the Beautiful Women and boasting its own cellar, the Kulacs Csarda may well be a recent construction but the menu certainly isn't stuffed as it is with the Hungarian classics: fish soup, paprika chicken, stuffed cabbage and lentil főzelék, are all in attendance and are top drawer when it comes to taste and quality.
The building is new, the menu isn't
The restaurant is in a large cellar-like room which, although great for groups, is not ideal for couples or families looking for a bit of peace and quiet. There is, however, a very nice terrace framed by trailing vines where you can eat on fine days.

Ieger.com has its own dedicated restaurant reviewer committed to bringing its readers the latest on Eger's eateries.
Ilkka Januteinen, originally from Finland, regularly forgoes family life in pursuit of bringing us the freshest culinary news from around Eger.
Food and drink, not necessarily in that order, are his life and we have him to thank for the restaurant, bars and club reviews throughout this site.
In short, Kulacs Csarda is a great place for those wishing to sample some of Hungary's signature dishes prepared to a very high standard. Due to its close proximity to the cellars of Szépasszony Völgy, the inn also has a great wine list which complements the cuisine wonderfully.
If, however, you like your food light on fat and heavy on vegetables, then you'd be better off looking somewhere else.
