Hotel Kodmon is the newest addition to Eger's growing tourist sector. Located in the Valley of the Beautiful Women (Szépasszonyvölgy), the Kodmon is ideal for those wishing to relax and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet while sampling some of the region's fine wines.
Impressive from the outside
As you would expect from a hotel in this category, the rooms are very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Air-conditioning comes as standard as does a fully-equipped en-suite bathroom, balcony and fast, reliable wifi.
There are three categories of room: Double Superior, Double Superior Deluxe and Suite. The latter two options have a few extra frills, not least their own jacuzzis.
A double superior room at the Hotel Kodmon
The Kodmon sits in Szépasszonyvölgy, commonly translated as Valley of the Beautiful Women less commonly, as Valley of the Sirens and badly, as Valley of the Nice Women.
The Valley is a popular stop on the tourist trail as it is full of wine cellars, some large commercial enterprises, others small family run affairs.
The cellars, as is typical in the Eger region, are cut into the soft tufa limestone hillside. Tufa ensures that the wine is kept at a perfect temperature regardless of the weather.
Some smaller cellars in the Valley
Most of the cellars in the Valley are open to the public but beware, the quality varies widely. If you wish to sample some good wine, then consult our page on where to buy/taste wine in Szépasszonyvölgy.
Some beautiful people enjoying the Kodmon's pool
Marketed as a Wellness Hotel, the Kodmon has all that you would expect of one: an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, Hammam bath, solarium, massage etc. This is just as well, as the Turkish baths and Eger open air baths are about a 30 minute walk away, in the town centre.
However, a cheap, less strenuous option is available to those who want to go into Eger to do some souvenir shopping or visit the sights: a couple of little road trains (costs about 800huf for a return ticket) leaves every hour from the valley, taking little more than 15 minutes to get into the heart of Eger.

What you find below are two columns: one outlining the positive in the Hotel Kodmon and the other the negative, as expressed by their guests. This information is collated from hotel review websites such as tripadvisor.com, booking.com and agoda.com.
Good location for cellars and restaurants
Quiet and peaceful surroundings
Bit far from the centre of Eger (30 minute walk)
Hotel Kodmon gets a score of 100% on tripadvisor.com (calculated from 5 guest reviews) and on booking.com a score of 8.5/10 (calculated from 59 reviews).
From my reading of the reviews, most guests are delighted with Hotel Kodmon although it is some distance from the sights in Eger, if you don't have your own transport this can be an issue.
