Many otherwise great holidays have been tarnished by transport nightmares.

Eger has a lot of centrally located accommodation but it is difficult to sort the good from the bad.

not the most beautiful hotel in the world, the Estella is centrally
located, good value for money and staffed by a young and eager-to-please
the northernmost architectural reminder of the 16th century Ottoman Empire, this
hotel has recently had a complete refurbishment bringing it up to the
standards expected of a modern hotel.
Two hotels in one, the Korona is a particularly good choice for visitors interested in Eger's wine culture: it has its own cellar which houses Hungary's National Wine Museum.
The most highly-regarded and popular of Eger's guesthouses, perhaps because of its unrivalled location and 'olde worlde' allure.
Afrodite Apartment House is on Dobo Utca, right under the castle,and has super friendly staff.
This centrally located guesthouse is opposite the Afrodité (above) and is run by a husband and wife team who have always
proved very helpful, they have private and secure parking facilities in
the centre of the town - not to be sniffed at.
The restaurant in this place was awarded a spot in the list of the top 12 eateries in Hungary, the apartments are quite good too.
A touch characterless but with an unbeatable location, the Szent Janos is a good option for those without their own transport.
